Refractive errors are very common eye disorders in which the eye cannot clearly focus on images. If they are not diagnosed in time, especially during childhood, they may result in severe visual impairment and even blindness. Refractive errors can be corrected simply by wearing glasses, an effective and inexpensive remedy whose cost does not exceed $5 in developing countries. Even so, refractive errors are currently one of the major global health problems. The main cause of this situation is the shortage of eye care professionals and automated equipment capable of prescribing glasses. PlenOptika proposes as a solution the QuickSee, a low cost and easy to use autorefractor. This device improves the efficiency and scope of eyecare professionals to prescribe glasses, while enabling people with minimal training in refractive techniques such as nurses, technicians or even non-healthcare personnel to carry out measurements of refractive errors quickly and reliably.

The QuickSee, being classified as a medical device, must follow a series of international guidelines and standards in order to be distributed in Europe, the USA and other parts of the world. Among these standards, the ISO 13485 handles the Quality Management System for Medical Devices. This ISO establishes the tasks, procedures and information management that ensure the quality of the device in all its possible aspects. Among these procedures, there are some for the technical service offered by PlenOptika, such as managing the information flow of all procedures related to the device. To carry out the tasks related to the technical service, PlenOptika has designed a Servicing Application that automates and simplifies these tasks in an easy and intuitive user interface. This leaves behind the physical format that is difficult to manage from the various PlenOptika offices located around the world. The application uses production data from the devices, and also manages a series of internal company forms, providing efficiency, security, speed and quality to this technical service.
